"Let me see if I get this right! I have heard many say that we should be compassionate and take in Muslim refugees, and if we don’t “we are not being Christians or we are not living a true Christian life”. Some go so far to even question the fact that “radical Christians” are no different than terrorists since they too kill. I know of no Christians who randomly, honor kill, behead, persecute, are blood thirsty, kill, rape and suppress weaker non-like believers, etc. The only thing we should hate is sin, but never the sinner. We ALL need to wake up. As peaceful citizens we should harbor no ill will to others…period!
For the most part we, as a nation, do just that! We are very tolerant of others and other religions. We are the most generous and perhaps tolerant nation both now and at any time in the history of the world. Even our Founding Fathers, almost each and every one of them, thought about the relationships of other religions, including Islam, to the new nation and were prepared to make a place for them in our republic. However, nowhere were they prepared to allow any group or religion to forcibly impose their free will or religious doctrines (such as Sharia Law) into the fabric of the established Christian principles and values- those which this nation were originally founded upon. I dare say, few Founding Fathers thought this nation should be founded outside or without Christian based principles/frameworks/doctrine/value based. (Please don’t rebut this idea merely on the “wrongs” committed by these often referred to as white idealists, but rather focus on what they initially believed this nation should be based upon.) No nation was conceived by “perfect” men! This nation had men whose perceived framework and design was to override previously known “lack of religious freedoms and intolerances” of the world they knew at that time. If you think this is the only nation that indentured, chained and enslaved a class or race of individual, you are totally wrong. “The Founders ideas of religious freedom were actually very simple – totally in contrast with the self-contradictory and inconsistent view of today’s ideas of “tolerance and political correctness”. Their idea and view of religious freedom and tolerance focused on the “prevention of religious persecution” and its elimination. In other words, all religions were welcome to come and exercise their religious rights without fear of being persecuted - so long as they were not intolerant of others who were practicing tolerant religious beliefs.
They knew full well the standards and immoralities often being practiced around the world were in extreme contrast to their own Christian standards. Quoting Jedidiah Morse, a signer of the constitution, “In all those countries where there is little or no religion, or a very gross and corrupt one, as Islam and Pagan countries, there you will find, with scarcely a single exception, arbitrary and tyrannical government, gross ignorance and wickedness and deplorable wretchedness among the people. In proportion with as the genuine effects of Christianity are diminished in any nation, either through unbelief, or the corruption of its doctrines, or the neglect of its institutions; in the same proportion will the people of that nation recede from the blessing of genuine freedom, and approximate the miseries of complete despotism”. Amazingly, this was written some 250 years ago…doesn’t this observation still reflect the world as it is today? So it stands to reason, the more we break away from the ideals of our Founding Fathers, tolerance of anyone or group who practice intolerance whether through political correctness, diversity, hate mongering, anti-Christian ideologies (like Islam) will inevitably hasten the demise of the American Republic that has existed for over two centuries.
So I say, open the door to all the tolerant, and peace loving, people of the world. Allow them to partake of our legal system and religious freedoms. However, have it ingrained within us, that intolerance to anyone's moral belief, faith and life itself will not be tolerated or accepted. Come practice your peace loving religious beliefs here, but keep your immoral, degradation of women, hatred of others outside your belief and our laws- outside of our boundaries. Don't come to change us, come to value our way of life.
This morning as I turned on the TV set on my way to make coffee, a national ( CNN:HLN Channel) news segment had apparently earlier asked its viewers to write in and tell them who "they would raise taxes on if they had the ability to do so". I'm paraphrasing now but here is how it was played out: One person wrote in and said, "raise taxes on the big oil companies but do it APPROPRIATELY". This individual's email actually had the word APPROPRIATELY spelled in capital letters. The second individual wrote in and said, "raise taxes on the junk food companies because they make food taste good which forces us to eat it and yet it is bad for us". (They will one day raise prices on Junk Food, mark my words!) Honest, i'm not making this up!!!!! As to the first writer, i'm ASSUMING (I capitalized this word to make a point too) they think raising taxes APPROPRIATELY would not effect the average consumer - ergo, their use of the CAPS! In o...
