Nancy Pelosi

Nancy Pelosi in a recent news broadcast interview, calls the tea party movement the "AstroTurf" movement. I don't know what that infers, but I do know that she is wrong in her attempt to dissuade and mock a group of people from exercising their constitutional right of freedom of expression.  What I do know is this expression is born of frustration and must indicate she is pressed up against the wall and now must pressure or persuade her own colleagues to vote for legislation that the majority of Americans do not support, as currently written, even at the cost of losing their jobs.  Apparently, she is unable to even get the support of most of her party. All this tells me is how desperate she must feel to continue to push a bipartisan unpopular legislation. Either she has a strong conviction or a strong constitution - she has to be full of something...and that movement sure wouldn't look good on "AstroTurf"!

Dalia Lama

It's just shameful to allow someone (anyone) to be ushered out of the White House (the People's House) by a side door past garbage bags.  Well, that's just how the President of the United States made the Dalia Lama, an official Head of State, and spiritual leader of Tibet, leave today after their short meeting.  It was disgraceful!  You think the Chinese had anything to do with this contrived exit planned by our esteemed President.  Obama wanted to let the Chinese know he did not support or endorse this "man of peace", a rightful and worthy recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize.   The Dalai Lama's treatment was one laced with total indignation; his exit was a sign showing this President's willingness yet again to bow down.  I'm not sure this man understands America and how Americans treat friends and allies! I realize he has been getting low key treatment from our presidents for the past 20 some odd years.  But, clean up the garbage from beside the do...

Watch but don't shoot!

A policy of the US Military, now fighting in Afghanistan, is not to open fire or return fire unless fired upon AND see them with weapons in hand.  If you don't believe me, look it up yourself. I saw several interviews with our troops who say they can't return fire unless they see weapons in the hands of the enemy and are shot at.  Can you just imagine how frustrating this must be to a soldier?  How deadly have the consequences of this policy been?  How does this sort of policy get enacted in the first place?  How stupid is this anyway?  Why even have our troops there?  They actually said they saw snipers shoot at them and then later walk out of a building as if nothing was wrong. I liken this policy to the opening scene of the TV series Gunsmoke.  The villain is out in the street and holding a pistol hidden behind his back; Marshall Dillon's gun is strapped and locked in its holster with the written instructions (open only in case of emergency...

Three great movies!

There are three great movies that I think are well worth watching, even though they are filmed in black and white.  For me, they don't make movies like this anymore. They are: "This Land is Mine" (1944), "The Seventh Cross" (1943), and "It's a Wonderful Life" (1946).  These three are some of my most favorite movies.  Each deals with deep human emotions, overcoming extreme adversity, man's inhumanity toward his fellow man, and the basic will to subconsciously do what is right, even in the face of extreme hardship.  Perhaps a major reason I enjoy viewing these movies is they transport me back to another era and time, of memories of my mother; of how her life must have been like in pre and post-war Germany, and of how she had to survive during that horrific period of time. Each of these movie's primarily focus is from the adult's sufferings, their actions or in-actions and how they eventually overcome tragedy and adversities. However, th...

Hope

Why are so many more people concerned about there exterior appearance than they are about their interior self-worth and spirit?   What good is it to look 55 at age 70 and laid up in a nursing home with no hope what-so-ever!
