In a recent article (Jan 07, 2010) in US Today, White House national security adviser James Jones said "President Obama "is legitimately and correctly alarmed that things that were available, bits of information that were available, patterns of behavior that were available, were not acted on." He further went on to say, "That's two strikes", referring to the failed Northwest jet attack and the shooting massacre at Fort Hood, Texas, in November. Finally, Gen. Jones, a retired four-star Marine general, told the paper that Obama "certainly doesn't want that third strike, and neither does anybody else." Duh!
What amazes me is even this trained military expert would rather tone down the attacks by equating them to baseball game jargon! How utterly ridiculous!
I really feel safe now that they will again start checking the 99.99% of us passengers for fingernail clippers and tweezers and make you pour out your starbucks. We're spending billions for TSA agents to check out our underwear in the suitcases of us 99.99% . The other .01% will not be screened as it would appear they were profiling. Well, the terrorists got by again - without their underwear down (pun intended).
When Obama speaks of these attacks, he will admit the "buck stops with him", he can do that cause he was actually on vacation in Hawaii, so it really wasn't like he was on duty or anything like that. No one will be fired! And, I'll bet he won't mention the actual heros in all these attacks, the folks in line at the bank in Ft. Hood and the passengers on the plane. As always, it is the everyday common citizen who fix things up!
When will they finally realize the terrorists don't consider this a game...to them this is war! These were "attacks, strikes, hits, etc." (whatever they want to call them), and there will be more. That's what terriorists do!
Perhaps the good general should be reminded of the "three strikes and you're out" baseball rule.
